Sierra Mardel is 17h. She was reserve champion at her OSB inspection as an awkward 3 yr old. Her sire,Leonidas*Pg*is the only living U.S. horse in the USDF top ten list of sires with the highest number of offspring winning USDF-Horse of the Year awards from 2002-2008. The partnership of Hilda Gurney and Mary Contakos is cited in USDF Connection Magazine as one of two U.S. breeders consistently in the top five over the past several years. Sierra Mardel has a maternal half brother, Spinnaker, who has competed through Intermediare I very successfully.
Spinnaker is still scoring excellent in USDF Intermediare at 19 yrs old.

Leonidas , retired from a very successful Grand Prix dressage year in 2002 when he was on the B list for the USET team and had a median score of 68.4% at Grand Prix Freestyle. In previous years he has been USDF open Horse of the Year at Intermediare I Freestyle and USDF open Horse of the Year at 4th level. He is the only Trakehner stallion approved first by the American Trakehner Association that has also been approved by the German Verband without going through inspection in Germany. Many of his offspring have already excelled in USDF competition through Prix St. George, although the oldest were foaled in 1996, so they have not had enough time to show how far they can go. His offspring have also won numerous prestigious breeding awards and some over fences as hunters.

The filly 's dam, Savannah, has already produced outstanding performers like Spinnaker, has been ATA's USDF reserve champion at Training, 1st, 3rd and 4th levels in '99, '00, '02 ,'03 respectively. In '04 he is doing very well at Intermediare I, having won at least one high score award.

Spinnaker had a median score of 64.5% at Intermediare I in 2004 at 10 years old. A very consistant performer, he was reserve champion in the USDF all breeds awards for Trakehners three times.
