FOALED 2000. Trieste's dam is a 3/4 sister of the great sire,Kostolany : making Trieste a 2nd cousin of TOTILAS. She has a compact muscular build, good length of leg, built nicely uphill. She was the top scoring mare of 8 at her inspection. Her legs are virtually perfect and good body. What is noted in the inspection report (she may have been standing funny that day)is all one could say isn’t almost perfect.
She needs confidenceat the canter recently because I do not sit well enough to give her. On the longe her canter is very good.
I bred and raised her and rode her as my personal horse for several years . I am not a really good rider and my location is over a hundred miles from instructors. I leased Trieste to a woman in her 60’s. She was a dressage instructor and was well pleased with Trieste for 3 years. Very sadly the woman was diagnosed with cancer not long after getting Trieste. She rode Trieste most of the 3 years until she passed away. So she did not get Trieste trained to the level she felt riding her. She had started half steps of passage.
Since then ,I have barely had time to ride her,but she is very s o f t in the mouth and pleasant.
Trieste had 1 great colt by Guy Laroche. She was one of the best new dams I’ve ever seen. It may be possible to rebreed her to Guy if a buyer wanted, although he is 26 yrs now.
Trieste’s dam (Sevilla) was by Enrico Caruso out of a mare by Falke (as is Kostolany, sire of the great Gribaldi, sire of Totilas.)
She has plenty of energy and stamina under saddle.
Trieste is super sweet and well mannered. She cribs occasionally but on only on wood and only when confined, still not very much. There is just the tiniest sign of wear from that on 2 of her upper teeth and she’s been doing it occasionally since she was a yearling and confined in a stall for a month in a very bad winter.Usually she is in a pasture. She tends to be dominant with other horses in the pasture.
Trieste has never had a health or soundness problem with the minor exception of a small scar on her right eye’s cornea from a scratch. Her hooves are great and she’s never needed shoes. She is very easy to trim & rasp,I do it myself.
